The Annual Dwarf Beard Competition

Once every year, work in the mines slows, the forges grow quiet, and dwarves travel from across the surrounding hills for one of the village’s proudest — and most ridiculous — traditions. 

The Annual Dwarf Beard Competition captures the joyful moment when craftsmanship, friendship and an extraordinary amount of facial hair become the center of village life.

In the middle of the flower-filled square, the finest beards in the realm are proudly presented before an enthusiastic crowd. Some are enormous and carefully braided, others decorated with rings and ornaments, and a few have clearly required years of determined cultivation. Yet this year, one competitor has decided that an impressive beard alone is simply not enough.

Standing proudly among the seasoned contestants, a smaller dwarf reveals his masterpiece: an enormous beard completely covered in colourful flowers. Daisies, roses and wildflowers cascade almost to the cobblestones, transforming him into what appears to be half dwarf and half travelling garden. His fellow competitors can barely contain their laughter, while elves, villagers and visitors crowd onto the bridge to applaud the wonderfully creative entry.

Behind the celebration, a clear stream winds beneath the old stone bridge while waterfalls descend through the flourishing village. Colourful festival banners stretch between flower-covered houses, neighbours gather along the streets, and golden sunlight illuminates a community that has found a very good reason to forget its responsibilities for the afternoon.
