At the edge of a quiet lakeside village stands an old inn beneath an enormous tree. Its sign bears a golden swan, its windows remain warm long after midnight, and travelers throughout the realm know one simple rule:

At the Golden Swan, nobody eats alone unless they truly want to.

The inn was founded generations ago by a retired adventurer who believed that the greatest treasure he had discovered on his journeys was not gold, magic or glory—it was the people who had shared the road with him.

That tradition remains.

On this beautiful moonlit evening, four unlikely friends have claimed their favorite table beneath the lanterns. A wandering human adventurer raises his cup beside a cheerful red-haired village woman. Across from them, an elegant dark-skinned elf laughs at a story she has clearly heard before, while a powerful orc woman has reached the part of the tale that somehow becomes funnier every time it is told.

They came from different places, different peoples and very different lives. Yet here, beneath the golden lanterns, none of that seems particularly important.

Around them, the village settles into the night. Old friends continue their conversations at neighboring tables. Warm light pours from flower-covered windows. Beyond the cottages, moonlight crosses the lake while the distant castle glows above the waterfalls.

Even a tiny magical fox has curled up beneath their table, apparently having discovered that friendship also has an excellent chance of producing dropped food.
