The Great Winter Race
Where nobody stays grown-up for long
It began with the children racing their sleds down the old hill behind the farm. Then someone made the mistake of telling Grandpa that he was far too old to join them.
Five minutes later, he appeared at the top of the hill with an old wooden sled that had been hanging in the barn for decades. What followed became the most competitive race of the winter.
Children, parents, neighbors and grandparents came flying down the snowy hillside between red farmhouses and frozen fields, while everyone along the fences cheered them on. Even the farm dog joined the chaos, convinced that running beside the sleds somehow made him part of the competition.
Nobody remembers who officially won. Grandpa insists it was him. The children strongly disagree.
But perhaps that was never the point.
The Great Winter Race celebrates the kind of happiness that ignores age — a winter afternoon when generations become playmates, laughter echoes across the snow, and an ordinary hill becomes the greatest racetrack in Sweden.
