Every Swedish Midsummer celebration has music, flowers and dancing. This one also has a man who is absolutely certain he knows the steps.

Beneath a magnificent flower-covered Midsummer pole, generations of family, friends and neighbors have gathered for one of the brightest days of the year. Flower crowns are worn proudly, tables are prepared with summer food, and traditional clothing fills the farm with color.

Then, in the middle of the dance, one enthusiastic gentleman decides that tradition could use a little improvisation. With one heroic kick and complete confidence, he invents a dance move nobody recognizes. The musicians keep playing, the children point and laugh, and soon half the gathering has forgotten the proper steps entirely.

Perhaps that is the true spirit of Midsummer — not performing everything perfectly, but being surrounded by people who make you forget to care.

The Midsummer Dance Nobody Will Forget is a celebration of Swedish tradition at its most joyful: flowers, countryside, community and the wonderful freedom of looking a little ridiculous among people you love.
