The Volvo That Refused to Stay Home
“Don’t worry, it’ll get through.”
The snow had been falling all night, covering the farm road beneath a deep white blanket. Everyone agreed that the sensible thing was to wait until the tractor had cleared the way.
Everyone except the Volvo’s owner.
“It’s Swedish,” he confidently announced. “It was built for this.”
For several glorious metres, he appeared to be right. Then the old Volvo slowly sank into the snow and came to a very dignified stop.
Soon the whole farm had joined the rescue operation. Two pushed, one shoveled, another offered completely unnecessary instructions, and someone brought coffee. Even the dog started digging, although nobody was quite sure whether he was helping.
By the time the Volvo finally escaped, nobody cared about the original journey anymore.
The Volvo That Refused to Stay Home celebrates stubborn optimism, friendship and the wonderfully familiar winter moments when a small problem becomes the best part of the day.
